He studied medicine at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and Penang Medical College. After this, he completed postgraduate training in General Surgery at the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh (MRCS). Dr Rahman later trained in Malaysia, Singapore, and New Zealand, where he gained experience in General and Cardiothoracic Surgery. He is a Fellow of both the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners (FRNZCGP) and the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP).

Dr Rahman has a strong interest in skin cancer detection, management and minor surgery. He holds advanced qualifications in Dermatoscopy and the surgical and medical management of skin cancer. He provides detailed skin checks using dermatoscopy, biopsies, and surgical excision of skin cancers at the practice. Where a wound cannot be closed in a straight line he performs minor flaps and grafts in the practice. More complex reconstructions, and lesions in sites that call for specialist input, are assessed and referred on. Excisions are generally booked within one to four weeks of the skin check, depending on clinical urgency and complexity.

Dr Rahman provides circumcision for infants, older children and adults and is affiliated with the Circumcision Academy of Australia. Every circumcision starts with a consultation to confirm the procedure is appropriate and to discuss the technique, recovery and aftercare. No referral is required. Circumcision is privately billed, and fees are discussed and confirmed at your consultation before anything is booked.
Family and General Practice Medicine
Dr Rahman continues to provide comprehensive family medicine, caring for patients of all ages with a focus on prevention, health promotion, continuity of care and partnering with his patients for their best health outcomes. Dr Rahman has trained with Family Planning New Zealand to gain specific expertise in contraceptive services. He has a special interest in cardiac health, supporting patients with prevention, monitoring, and management of heart-related conditions in the general practice setting.
In addition to his GP work, Dr Rahman is an Assistant Surgeon in Cardiothoracic Surgery at Newcastle Private Hospital. He continues to build his knowledge and skills through ongoing professional development.
