A Newcastle medical centre taking care of all your needs. Telehealth appointments available.
The Morrison Government has withdrawn the Covid-19 incentive to bulk-bill telephone consultations for specific high-risk groups as of 01/10. The incentive was essential to support the bulk billed teleheaalth services. To maintain the quality services our patients need and deserve, MMC will revert to our pre-Covid practice of private billing everyone from 01/10. This means that like onsite visits, telehealth services will now be billed to the patient. We do offer concession rates for those in genuine need.
Medicare ruling requires that new patients are first seen onsite. Onsite consultations may only be made by phoning us on 49682157 8-5 Mon-Fri.
If you have cold/flu symptoms, please attend your local public hospital for a free covid test and recieve your negative results BEFORE attending our site. You don’t need a referral and you will have your result in approx 24 -48 hrs.
To protect us all in these pandemic times, we choose to deliver care by telehealth whenever possible. If your doctor feels you need to be seen onsite, you will be offered an appointment during your telehealth consultation.
All visitors must wear a face covering to attend onsite. We have them available for $2 if you don’t have your own.
Existing patients may book online.
Or call us on 4968 2157 8am – 5pm Mon-Fri
Please read below for MMC advice on booking and using our service during this important time. We post updates, info and tips on our Face Book page www.facebook.com/MayfieldMedical

As of 16/03/2020 MMC reduced access to our site in order to support the physical isolation required to limit the spread of covid-19. Effectively limiting the spread could reduce the death rate from a potential 4-5% to .5%.
During this unprecedented time, it is incredibly important that we all look after each other, please take the time to carefully read the following regarding how to access the services at Mayfield Medical Connection whilst the threat of Covid-19 remains:
Unless you are a new patient, when you book an appointment, you will only be offered a telephone consultation. If your needs require face to face contact we will organise an onsite visit. The Government now insists that all new patients are seen onsite for their first visit. If you have cold/flu symptoms please attend your local public hospital for a free covid test FIRST. You don’t need a referral and you will have your results in around 24 -48 hrs.
All onsite visitors must wear a face covering. If you don’t have your own, you may purchase one for $2 on arrival.
We are being particularly careful of vulnerable groups:
Over 50 ATSI
Parent of child under 12 months
Immuno suppressed or compromised
Chronic health issues
If you are amongst these groups, please self-isolate and ask your community for help if you need it. If you’re not sure if you’re vulnerable, please call us so we can help.
Regarding Covid-19 testing:
If you have flu-like symptoms, please make sure you attend your local public hospital for a free covid test BEFORE you attend our site. You don’t need a referral and you will have your results in around 24 hrs. You will need evidence of your negative test to attend your onsite appointment. Self-isolate and ring us on 4968 2157 for assistance.
To reduce the chance of exposure, we are asking patients who drive here to remain in their cars and call us on arrival; we will let you know when to enter the building. If you are arriving by public transport please call us before you enter. You might go for a stroll or sit on our seat outside, keeping 1.5 metres away from other people whilst you wait to be called in. You must wear a face covering to attend onsite. You may purchase one for $2 on arrival if you don’t have your own.
Even if you are young and fit, it is important to limit your exposure to other people during this crucial time, you don’t want to be responsible for infecting your or someone else’s grandparent, baby or immuno compromised loved one.
Remember, only telehealth initially for existing patients unless your doctor recommends otherwise. Please call if you need assistance. Due to the Morrison Governments withdrawal of the Covid-19 bulk billing incentive, from 01/10/2020 all services, including telehealth consultations will be subject to our pre-covid private billing schedule.
Meanwhile, wash your hands regularly, don’t touch MEN (mouth, eyes, nose) avoid public places, eat and sleep well and stay sensible in this time of crisis.
