Dr. Shafiq Rahman AG Shabiyulla – GP Newcastle is a kind and understanding doctor. He believes in working with patients as partners in their care and supports them through every stage of life.
He studied medicine at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and Penang Medical College. After this, he completed postgraduate training in General Surgery at the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh (MRCS). Dr Rahman later trained in Malaysia, Singapore, and New Zealand, where he gained experience in General and Cardiothoracic Surgery. He is a Fellow of both the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners (FRNZCGP) and the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP).

Dr Rahman has a strong interest in skin cancer detection, management and minor surgery. He holds advanced qualifications in Dermatoscopy and the surgical and medical management of skin cancer. He provides detailed skin checks and can perform surgical removal when needed.

Dr Rahman provides infant circumcisions and is affiliated with the Circumcision Academy of Australia. He plans to extend this service to older children and adults in the future.

Dr Rahman has trained with Family Planning New Zealand to gain specific expertise in contraceptive services. He has a special interest in cardiac health, supporting patients with prevention, monitoring, and management of heart-related conditions in the general practice setting.
In addition to his GP work, Dr Rahman is an Assistant Surgeon in Cardiothoracic Surgery at Newcastle Private Hospital. He continues to build his knowledge and skills through ongoing professional development.
